Check Deposits

Customers can programmatically deposit checks via our Check Imaging API and Check Deposit API.

Column's Check Imaging API allows customers to send Column raw photos of both the front and back of a physical check. Column will crop and format the check and extract all necessary MICR and text data from the image.

Check Imaging in Beta

Our Check Imaging API is still in Beta. We recommend you validate the response details before depositing the check with our Deposit Check API.

With the output of the Check Imaging API, customers can use our Check Deposit API, providing Column the cropped and formatted images and extracted MICR data to deposit a check. Column validates the routing number provided, the image provided, and MICR line information before depositing the check.

Third-Party Processor

You can use a third-party processor for check image capture. You can send the check image and metadata from your third-party processor to Column in our Check Deposit API to deposit a check at Column. Column will then submit an image cash letter to the Federal Reserve and provide deposit status updates via webhooks so you have insight into the status of your deposit.
