Stablecoins

Stablecoins have arrived at Column.

For the first time, stablecoins work the way they were intended to, with 24/7 instant interoperability with the U.S. dollar.

Stablecoins are great. But one leg of almost every stablecoin transaction still touches fiat, so they’re only as useful as the rails they connect to. Historically, that meant your stablecoins were only as good as the legacy banking core your orchestrator wrapped.

In the past, if you wanted to send a stablecoin payout, you either needed to wait for the wire to fund that transaction or prefund at your orchestrator and manage the liquidity yourself. If you received stablecoins on a Sunday morning, you couldn’t move them into fiat until Monday, when your orchestrator’s wire window opened.

But at Column, stablecoins operate a bit differently. We built stablecoins directly into our own banking core, so there are no middlemen and no need to prefund. Your stablecoin address and bank account exist on the same ledger, so your USDC or USDT can be converted into and out of fiat 24/7 and instantaneously. You can send and receive stablecoins on Solana, Ethereum, and other major chains, and they work with every fiat rail we support today, such as SWIFT, RTP, and even checks.

We built this product alongside some of the largest fintechs building on stablecoins today — like Slash and Brex — after seeing firsthand how much work it took them to give their customers an instant stablecoin experience while managing settlement delays, prefunded accounts, and reconciliation under the hood. Stablecoins at Column are already scaling quickly, with tens of billions in annualized volume.

Stablecoins and fiat on one ledger

Column customers can now:

  • Receive USDC at 9 PM on a Saturday and pay it out over RTP to any U.S. bank account the next second, instead of waiting for Monday’s wire window

  • Debit a customer’s outside bank account over ACH and send the USDC to a wallet, with no prefunded stablecoin balance needed

  • Accept USDC from a treasury team in Lagos and forward it as a SWIFT wire to a supplier in Europe, with the dollars never sitting idle

Stablecoin-backed cards

Most stablecoin-backed cards wrap separate orchestrators and issuers, which inevitably leads to operational delays and complexity. But with Column, the orchestration, issuing, and processing infrastructure all sit behind a single set of APIs. That means you can:

  • Authorize card spend against stablecoins the moment they land, with the actual balance instead of prefunded float

  • Settle with Visa and Mastercard in stablecoins, 24/7, with no fiat settlement accounts to top up before the weekend

  • Run a global card program without a dollar banking relationship in every country your cardholders live in

Our stablecoin product was built on our own financial primitives and is a step change in capability for anyone building in financial services. Instead of stitching together banks, orchestrators, issuer processors, and a dozen other vendors, you now only need one bank — Column — to build any financial product at the frontier.
